Saltwater Flyfishing

The Bay of Islands offers areas of abundant surface fish making this an excellent location for saltwater fly fishing.

Species of particular interest include Kahawai, Yellowtail Kingfish and Trevally. Kahawai (known as New Zealand’s Sea Trout) is a speedster renowned for offering a challenging fight to light tackle and flyfishing anglers alike.

Sole charters allow you to have the boat and all the skippers attention to yourselves, whether an individual or couple wanting a quality experience to themselves, a family or a small group of friends you have put together yourselves

The nature of fly fishing is such that it is not suitable to arrange share charters

Other fishing options (such as live-baiting for Kingfish or Snapper) can be included in a Fly fishing charter for an all-round Kiwi fishing experience

  • Get the boat and all the skipper’s attention to yourself

    Approx. 5hr charter, with prices ranging from $1000 - $1500

  • All fishing equipment supplied

  • All Skippers/fishing guides are qualified and licensed operators

  • All Vessels are certified by Maritime New Zealand as operating under MOSS (Maritime Operator Safety System)

  • Departures from Paihia, Russell or Waitangi. Departures from private jetties near your accomodation can be arranged

  • Day memberships with Bay of Islands Swordfish Club can be arranged if you wish to target line class species

  • Fish smoking and vacuum packing services available on request
